Meet Our Therapists

Dyonette Mayer, LCSW, DMin

Dr. Dyonette Mayer has been practicing as a therapist for over 20 years, working with adolescents, individuals, couples and families in Southern California. She currently spends her time as RelateStrong Director at the Boone Center for the Family at Pepperdine University and as President and therapist in private practice at Restoring Hope Therapy. She is passionate about helping her clients discover the pain points of their life & uncover ineffective ways of coping with the goal of helping them develop a new way forward.

Dyonette has an extensive background of working in education, first as Bible faculty and then as the Head of Spiritual Life in a high school setting. Dyonette worked with faculty, administration, parents and students to equip them spiritually by providing programming as well as frequent opportunities for personal spiritual care. She has extensive speaking experience on mental health and faith related topics. Dyonette is gifted at incorporating her passions of theology, psychology and spiritual formation to help each person flourish fully as God made them.

Her doctoral training in Spiritual Formation explored healthy practices for boards within ministry contexts. Dyonette is certified in EMDR therapy for trauma, Restoration Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has joyfully journeyed with clients towards their full healing and wholeness and would love to be a part of your journey as well.

When not at work, Dyonette enjoys spending time walking with her husband and cooking family dinners with her adult children and their partners. She is a major fan of chips and salsa and believes a good latte is one of the best things in life.

Allie Sever, AMFT

A Ventura local, Allie Sever is a Marriage and Family Therapist Associate, mental health and wellness enthusiast, former high school Christian educator, and consistent pursuer of fresh mountain air.

Through experiencing an ongoing family crisis while in college, she realized her need for counseling support to understand her family and the complex dynamics that were affecting her daily functioning. She made it her mission to choose weekly therapy, read as much relevant material as possible, cultivate community, develop boundaries, pursue faith and commit to healthy habits. This journey has allowed her the skills to experience peace amidst the real pain and complexity of life and to now help others do the same.

After earning her undergraduate degree at Pepperdine University in Theology and a California teaching credential, Allie taught high school Bible for 6 years and worked with university students for 2 years in a ministry gap year setting. Confirming her passion for walking with others in the good & painful parts of their life towards healing & wholeness, Allie went back to school to obtain a M.A. in Counseling Psychology (MFT) from California Lutheran University. In a local counseling center setting, Allie has since helped women, adolescents, young adults, couples and families develop insight into the pain points of their own life and make the necessary changes for peace.

She has spoken to university and high school students about identity, faith, boundaries, pornography addiction and body image. Her lively yet centered presence has led her clients, students and friends to find her trustworthy, calming, and encouraging.

In her personal life, she enjoys connecting with people over coffee or on a local trail, is an amateur runner & rock climber (thank you, husband), and is on a never-ending quest to find Ventura’s best street tacos.

Dee Dee and Allie have worked together for 7 years in ministry and counseling settings with a shared passion to see individuals, couples and families experience hope, support & thriving amidst their real lives.
